About DNSLAB

DNSLAB (Distributed Networks and Systems Laboratory) at Chonnam National University conducts leading research in distributed networks and systems, with a focus on software-defined networking (SDN), network security, big data platforms, and AI-driven networking.

The lab designs and evaluates scalable, reliable networked systems such as peer-to-peer overlays, social networking systems, content distribution networks, and GRID/Cloud platforms for large-scale distributed environments. In SDN/NFV based next-generation network architectures, DNSLAB studies traffic engineering, middlebox placement, and network function virtualization.

A major research thrust is practical network security: detecting and mitigating DDoS and flooding attacks, as well as security threats in IoT and cyber-physical systems. The lab applies deep learning, machine learning, and reinforcement learning to anomaly detection, traffic prediction, and collaborative attack detection, and validates these techniques on real data-center, cloud, and IoT networks.

DNSLAB also develops big data collection, storage, and processing platforms and builds AI-powered applications in domains such as agriculture, healthcare, and smart cities. By combining technologies like Hadoop, Spark, and large-scale learning with real-world datasets, the lab aims to create trustworthy, intelligent networked services and to train the next generation of ICT convergence experts.
